The Daha Riverfront Development in Siwan was initiated based on the City Development Plan (2010-30), which recognized the centrally located Daha River's potential as a regional recreational and tourist hub. Our primary design challenge was not simply aesthetic development, but ecological remediation: all the town's raw wastewater entered the river, severely degrading the environment and violating national mandates like NMCG.

Our design strategy was two-fold. First, we had to facilitate the creation of the necessary sewerage and wastewater infrastructure to stop the pollution. Second, we designed the riverfront to be a functional, cultural, and ecological asset, strategically integrating features within the town's limited space. The project included controlling riverbank erosion and using native planting for ecological restoration. For civic and cultural use, we designed a landscaped promenade, new ghats for religious ceremonies, a chaupati (public food square), and a new park, all strategically connected to the main highway to clearly re-establish the river as Siwan’s central identity.
