The 4 km Birchand Patel Marg was redeveloped under the Patna Smart City Project, transforming it from a simple road into an efficient urban corridor. The redesign focused on pedestrian and cyclist safety and sustainable mobility by introducing continuous, walkable footpaths and dedicated cycle tracks. The project also addressed visual and functional clutter: utility infrastructure was moved underground, and the streetscape was enhanced with smart poles that consolidated street lighting, CCTV, Wi-Fi, and pollution sensors. Finally, improved junction designs were implemented to alleviate traffic choke points and ensure smoother overall flow.
