The design challenge at the Swami Sahajanand Ashram in Bihta was to honour the site's immense heritage—as the centre of the peasant movement led by Swami Sahajanand Saraswati—while creating a functional 1-acre campus for modern use. We achieved this through a masterful integration of form and function: building a unique, multi-layered amphitheatre from brick and earth to serve as a large meeting space for farmers, complemented by a sloped lawn and winding pathways. The landscape design emphasized visual contrast and verticality, using native plants and a vine-covered pergola to create distinct, serene zones that balance the historical mandate with the practical needs for contemporary gatherings and reflection
